Abstract

This study examines the contribution of school culture to the formation of students’ moral character at SMP Negeri 4 Galesong Selatan, Takalar Regency. Using a quantitative correlational approach, the research involved 75 students selected through total sampling. Data were collected through validated questionnaires and analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics, including simple linear regression, t-test, and the coefficient of determination (R²).

The findings show that the school culture variable achieved an average score of 3.92, reflecting a positive and supportive environment for learning and moral development. Regression analysis revealed that school culture significantly influences students’ moral character formation, with a determination coefficient (R²) of 0.456. This indicates that 45.6% of moral development is shaped by school culture, while the remaining 54.4% is influenced by other factors beyond the scope of this study.

These results affirm the crucial role of a value-oriented, inclusive, and well-structured school culture in nurturing ethical behavior, responsibility, and empathy among students. The study highlights the importance of improving school infrastructure, teacher role modeling, and empathetic pedagogy as key strategies for enhancing students’ moral formation.
